Writer Charles Condomine invites the flamboyant Madame Arcati to hold a seance to generate material for his new murder mystery. When the ritual succeeds, and the ghost of his first wife returns, complications arise fast and furious.

Ruddigore by Gilbert and Sullivan

This classic Gilbert and Sullivan show — complete with the beautiful music and a famously comedic plot — find the chorus of professional bridesmaids of Rederring lamenting that there have been no weddings because all the young men are in love with Rose Maybud. She gives her love to Robin, a handsome farmer, only to discover that he is the bad baronet of Ruddigore, a whose family lives with a curse that compels members to commit a crime every day. Forced to accept his heritage, Robin turns to the portrait gallery of his ancestors, and the ghosts are more than willing to leave their frames to dispense ill-conceived advice.

The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams

The Glass Menagerie is a dreamer's play set in 1930s America where Amanda Wingfield and her children, Laura, and Tom (who serves as narrator) struggle to carry on after being abandoned by their father. Amanda is preoccupied with finding a suitor for her daughter, but the insecure Laura spends much of her time with her collection of tiny glass animals. Williams' breakout screenplay debuted in 1944 and its Broadway performances earned the New York Drama Critics Circle Award.
